The Solid Rock - 31 Days Of Hope (Day 3)

The lyrics to this old hymn have been running through my head for the past few days. What are you standing on? Your circumstances, your emotions, your own human understanding? Unless you are standing on the solid Rock that is Christ Jesus and His word, you are bound to sink when hard times come your way. I know many of you already know this song, and even if you do, take the time to read it and let the words become a hopeful reminder...

"My hope is built on nothing less
Than Jesus' blood and righteousness;
I dare not trust the sweetest frame,
But wholly lean on Jesus' name.
On Christ, the solid Rock, I stand;
All other ground is sinking sand.

When darkness veils His lovely face,
I rest on His unchanging grace;
In every high and stormy gale
My anchor holds within the veil.
On Christ, the solid Rock, I stand;
All other ground is sinking sand.

His oath, His covenant, and blood
Support me in the whelming flood;
When every earthly prop gives way,
He then is all my Hope and Stay.
On Christ, the solid Rock, I stand;
All other ground is sinking sand.

When He shall come with trumpet sound,
Oh, may I then in Him be found,
Clothed in His righteousness alone,
Faultless to stand before the throne!
On Christ, the solid Rock, I stand;
All other ground is sinking sand."

-Edward Mote (1797-1874)
